JIVAMUKTI Yoga

Welcoming seasoned practitioners as well as relative newcomers seeking to deepen their practice, this class moves from moderate to advanced postures by injecting the mystical into the physical. Ancient yogis understood that the body comes into the alchemy of movement when instilled with intention, purpose, and connection. Postures are skillfully introduced and sequenced, infused with non-dogmatic Yoga philosophy and awareness of one’s own breath. Variations to optional advanced poses are offered so practitioners can work at their own level, moving through arm balances, deep hip openers, twists, chest expanding backbends and inversions.

Through a feeling of integration, greater stamina, and inner poise, expect increased vitality and greater clarity in all modes of self-expression. Open to advanced beginners and seasoned practitioners.

Poses in this challenging, multi-level class are weaved together in a rhythmic manner through the incorporation of breath at every step of the practice.

Expect to feel the power of your breath while developing full body strength and stability.

Our beloved old-school SHALA Vinyasa classes emphasize the breath-movement connection and intelligent, creative sequencing. All major categories of postures are included for a strong, steady, well-rounded practice. Taught by co-directors of The Shala, Barbara Verrochi or Kristin Leigh.

SOUK Basic STRETCH & VINYASA is ideal for beginners, those seeking more flexibility and athletes looking to integrate yoga into their routine, or anyone looking for a slower flow. This slower moving, exploratory class provides the student with the underlying basics of how a vinyasa practice works, while encouraging proper alignment and a deeper stretch. Expect to spend some time close to the ground in poses like reclining twist, supine hip-openers and pigeon.

Iyengar Yoga deepens students’ awareness of the more subtle and profound aspects and effects of asana.

Align & Flow – IYENGAR
Suited for practitioners of all ages and levels of practice, this class is a great opportunity to learn the foundational actions of Iyengar Yoga and how alignment improves range of motion and flexibility. The class offers a dynamic approach to standing postures, back arches, forward bends, twists and inversions (such as shoulder stand).

IYENGAR Yoga INTERMEDIATE
After having learned the fundamentals of Iyengar Yoga, this faster paced, intermediate class encourages students to cultivate a consistent, personalized, and informed practice. This class introduces students to a range of poses including forward and back extensions as well as twisting and arm balance postures. Having attained a level of stability and ease, students may hold asanas for longer periods of time, learn variations and begin the journey to reflection and meditation in asana.

Ashtanga Yoga is a traditional sequence of postures that was developed in South India practiced either in a Led Format or in the Mysore tradition where practitioners proceed with the sequence of postures without being led, under the guidance of a teacher offering assists and adjustments.

The Led Format, taught on Sundays at 9am, is counted off in both Sanskrit and English to mark off the timing of vinyasa movements and breath. Expect to sweat and be challenged by the pace and progression of postures. Familiarity with Vinyasa or other Flow Styles of yoga is helpful in this class.

Kirtan is Call and Response chanting of ancient mantras! Mantras are melodic phrases in the ancient language of Sanskrit that allow us to travel beyond the incessant rumination of our mind and touch a part of ourselves that can only be reached by the sound of our own voices.

Kirtan is a time to come together as a community and connect through deep spiritual principles. We sing in kirtan with a common purpose of uplifting our consciousness via sacred sound and we share wisdom and stories from the yoga tradition that inspire us and give insight how to navigate the challenges and circumstances that inevitably come in life. It doesn’t matter your background or level of experience. All that is required is an open heart and enthusiasm to connect to something beyond the material.

Through breathwork you can touch feelings of deep self-love, bliss and unity consciousness. Tears, laughter and unexpected feelings and emotions often surface as we move through layers of conscious and unconscious programming, patterns, stories and behaviors.

The breathwork activations help you connect with your intuition (higher self) and your creativity (divine purpose).

PRANAYAMA Level 1: Breathing into Balance is designed for beginners and for anyone wishing to deepen their relationship with the breath. Discover the transformative power of conscious breathing in this ongoing weekly class rooted in ancient Pranayama teachings. We’ll explore foundational breathwork techniques step-by-step, beginning with simple, accessible practices to improve lung capacity, balance the nervous system, and cultivate inner steadiness. Over time, you’ll build a sustainable home practice, experience greater calm and focus, and access the profound stillness that lies beyond the mind’s constant activity.

FREQUENCY Breathwork creates a space of awakening, self-love, expanded consciousness and healing. Breathwork has been scientifically shown to improve mental health by helping to reduce stress, burnout, anxiety, and depression while improving sleep and increasing energy. FREQUENCY was co-founded by Vivian Rosenthal. Vivian is a healer, spiritual guide and breathwork teacher. She leads monthly retreats in CT at the Diamond Rose Sanctuary.
