IYENGAR Yoga Level II & Up
After having learned the fundamentals of Iyengar Yoga, this faster paced, mixed level class encourages students to cultivate a consistent, personalized, and informed practice. This class introduces students to a range of poses including forward and back extensions as well as twisting postures and head balance. Level II into Level III deepens the students’ awareness and experience of the more subtle and profound aspects and effects of asana. Having attained a level of stability and ease, students may hold asanas for longer periods of time, learn variations and begin the journey to reflection and meditation in asana. At this level, students are strongly encouraged to practice at home regularly so that their personal understanding of yogic postures begins to fuel their understanding of refinements taught in class. AZAHAR Fundraiser VINYASA CLASS
Yogeswari and Maria Cutrona are joining forces for an exciting Holiday Fundraiser Workshop to benefit AZAHAR Foundation. In the spirit of Lokah Samastah Sukhino Bhavantu, AZAHAR was founded by Yogeswari to spread the teachings of Yoga and Arts in a framework of peace building and cross-cultural communication, primarily in zones recovering from conflict. The first step is to discover hidden talents where access is difficult. The second step is to support professional education, both locally and internationally through the AZAHAR’s scholarship fund. The third step is to support the livelihood of the young people trained by AZAHAR through partnerships with local NGOs, arts organizations and corporate partners, in order to spread the tools of inner peace among wider communities and supporting them in reconnecting with their artistic, cultural and spiritual traditions. Your participation enables AZAHAR to offer one community class in Cambodia or in Rwanda. Additional donations will support housing and travel for an AZAHAR teacher to participate in the 300-hour Jivamukti Yoga Teacher Training in India in 2024. A full tuition scholarship is generously offered by Jivamukti Global. This wonderful partnership has enabled AZAHAR to send 11 yoginis from Cambodia, Colombia, Lebanon, Syria, Ukraine and Ivory Coast to the Jivamukti Teacher Training, while another 9 teachers from Cambodia and Rwanda have benefited from the online Teacher Training. After having learned the fundamentals of Iyengar Yoga, this faster paced, mixed level class encourages students to cultivate a consistent, personalized, and informed practice. This class introduces students to a range of poses including forward and back extensions as well as twisting postures and head balance. Level II into Level III deepens the students’ awareness and experience of the more subtle and profound aspects and effects of asana. Having attained a level of stability and ease, students may hold asanas for longer periods of time, learn variations and begin the journey to reflection and meditation in asana. UPLIFT: Learn how to Recite and Apply Mantras In Your Life
Mantra recitation is a beautiful practice that allows for the mind to become focused, clear and positively nourished. Choosing a verse from one of the Yoga texts (i.e. Bhagavad Gita), this workshop will help students learn how to recite Vedic mantras. Students will first be led in a short, yoga nidra meditation to let go of any external stresses and distractions. They will then be introduced to a chosen mantra which will carry a theme (i.e. how to speak with intention, tolerance, etc.). The mantra will then be translated from Sanskrit to English so that everyone is aware of its meaning. Students will then learn to recite the mantra as was done in Vedic times - through group recitation and repetition (word by word and then line by line). Time will be set aside at the end to discuss how the mantra can be applied in daily life through short exercises. We will conclude each session with more mantra meditation - through kirtan! What to expect (breakdown of time): 15min: guided yoga nidra meditation to relax the body. 15min: introduction to selected mantra (including translation and explanation of its meaning). 20min: learning and practicing the mantra 15min: guided reflection practice on how to incorporate mantra in your life. 10min: closing kirtan
